Yorii Town (Yorimachi) is a town located in the northwestern part of Saitama Prefecture and belongs to Osato County. It is the only municipality in the same county.
It is located in the northwestern part of Saitama Prefecture, within 70 km from central Tokyo. It is located in the middle reaches of the Arakawa River, just downstream of Nagatoro, and the city develops on its left bank. It is located along the Chichibu round-trip highway and flourished as a post town. Also, on the opposite bank of the central city area, there used to be Hachigata Castle, and it was also that castle town.
The Arakawa River starts in the Chichibu Mountains and flows into the Kanto Plain in Yorii. From Yorii to the mountains, it is a valley sandwiched between Sotochichibu and the Jotake Mountains, and Yorii has been a stronghold that has taken advantage of its geographical advantages since ancient times. Even now, it is a transportation hub connecting National Route 140 and National Route 254 and the JR Hachiko Line, Tobu Tojo Line, and Chichibu Railway.
Also, in 1985 (Showa 60), the “Fupugawa River (Yamato Mizu)” was certified as one of Japan's top 100 famous waters by the Environment Agency (current Ministry of the Environment), in 1995 (Heisei 7), the entire town was selected as one of the 100 best water villages by the Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Agency, “Japan Water Forest” is one of the 100 best water source forests, and in 2006 (Heisei 18), Hachigata Castle was certified as one of Japan's 100 Famous Castles by the Japan Castle Association It's there.
