TOTTA is a service created by one photographer with the desire to “create a service where you can meet good photographers.”

I watched the live broadcast of the US military's air strike on Iraq and decided to become a news cameraman. I began to think that I wanted to convey that there are people suffering from the bombing, and that I want to take pictures that convey “tragedy and sorrow” and serve as a stepping stone towards “peace.” And above all, I wanted to “go directly to the site and gather voices that don't make voices heard.” I think I felt uneasy and frustrated that I couldn't do anything about the news I saw through a cathode-ray tube.
I started taking pictures in 2006, and a professional photographer from Hiroshima gave me a Canon DSLR camera at a bargain price. After that, six months later, I went to Bangladesh, which is called one of the poorest countries in the world, to take a solo photo shoot, etc., pressing the shutter while imitating watching, and I learned it by myself. After moving to Tokyo, I began to do political and economic coverage on several web media, and three years later, in 2009, I was in charge of the Liberal Democratic Party's internet media representative cameraman for the 45th House of Representatives general election.
I believe that the power of “communicating” is immeasurable. Among the many means of communication, photography that captures a moment is the best tool for expressing all kinds of events, and as I took photographs, I was fascinated by its possibilities. I think one of the attractions is that it's not bound by a time line.
On 2011/3/11, right after I became a complete freelancer, the situation completely changed due to the effects of the earthquake. Most of the shooting disappeared in the form of “self-restraint.” After much trouble, I stayed in Tokyo and continued shooting photos related to the earthquake. At that time, only reports of the earthquake continued on TV (of course, that is important), and the world gradually became enveloped in a dark atmosphere. Under such circumstances, variety shows that had been refrained from at the time were revived on Fuji Television, etc., and the moment I saw them, I was made aware of the magnitude of the power of entertainment to make people smile.
I want to be a person who can realize and express what makes many people smile and what they think is fun with a tool called photography.
In business, photos and videos may influence future sales. Even in private, photos and videos of important moments in life will be a lifetime treasure. Photos and videos are very important assets.
I've always thought that there was a need for a specialized platform where I could compare the profiles of professional photographers and directly request shooting consultations and shooting requests. That's because I myself shoot every day as a professional photographer, and I talk about that every day with photographers in the same industry.
As far as I know, I wasn't aware of a matching service limited to professional photographers who work as a living.
A “cameraman” is not a qualified profession. Anyone who calls themselves is a “cameraman.”
That's why we needed a platform where we could limit ourselves to professional photographers with a working history and make direct requests.
Professional photographers are occupations where they listen to client requests on a daily basis and continue to take required photos and videos. It's not just about shooting, it's a job of being close to clients, extracting necessary information, and shooting and delivering something at the level they're looking for, or something slightly better than that.
I don't want to hear people say, “I asked a professional photographer, but I'm disappointed.”
We want to continue to be a service that can provide a good shooting environment to many people.
TOTTA is adding more features on a daily basis. The number of registered photographers continues to increase day by day.
We will continue to make every effort to continue providing a friendly service without stopping service improvements.
