Yura-cho (Yura-cho) is a town located almost in the central part of Wakayama Prefecture.
The entire town stretches east to west, facing mountains on the east side and the Kii Channel on the west side. In the western part of the town, there is Shirasaki Beach, a prefectural park, and a fantastic limestone landscape spreads out.
This fantastic landscape is read in the Manyoshu, and a monument to the poem has also been installed.
The limestone interior was used as a base during the war. After that, it became a limestone mining site, but now there is a scuba diving facility (Shirasaki Marine Park).
The western part of the town is the founder “Kokoku-ji Temple.” Kanayamadera is said to be the birthplace of miso and soy sauce.
Also, many historic sites have been excavated, and it is famous even in a town with many historic sites.
